Milkyways ist eine Sammlung von Essays, in denen sich die Künstlerin Camille Henrot mit der Ambivalenz von Mutterschaft und dem Prozess der Schöpfung von Neuem, sowohl in der Kunst als auch im Leben, auseinandersetzt. Jedes Kapitel eröffnet einen Kosmos von Referenzen zu Literatur, Cartoons, Kunstgeschichte und Psychoanalyse - von der griechischen Mythologie über Marcel Proust bis zu Hélène Cixous. Neben Abbildungen der Malerei, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen Henrots oszillieren ihre Texte frei zwischen dem Persönlichen und dem Gesellschaftlichen, dem Offensichtlichen und dem Komplexen, dem unbewusst Instinktiven und dem ganz Alltäglichen.Milkyways wurde ursprünglich auf Einladung von Antje Stahl für das Magazin Republik konzipiert und in Zusammenarbeit mit Jacob Bromberg, Antje Stahl und Léa Trudel geschrieben.CAMILLE HENROT (_1978, Paris) gilt als eine der einflussreichsten Stimmen der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Referenzen aus Literatur, Psychoanalyse, Kulturanthropologie und der Banalität des Alltags aufgreifend, hinterfragt sie, was es bedeutet, sowohl privates Individuum als auch globales Subjekt zu sein. Henrots Arbeiten werden weltweit in Einzelausstellungen gezeigt, zuletzt im Munch Museum, Oslo; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Kunsthalle Wien und New Museum, New York.
